A Big Month for Into the Smoke!

I spent most of this month with my head down, cranking out thumbnails and pencils for Into the Smoke chapter 2! I can’t believe how quickly we’re reaching the end of chapter 1.
Into the Smoke
Into the Smoke is my new free vertical-scroll webcomic, launched in May 2024. It updates every other Wednesday. “When gay medium Blaze binds himself to an evil spirit, he hopes solving the ghost’s murder will help bring him peace. But Alastor the Angel Killer has other plans…”

1. August’s Patreon Secret Gallery post was an R-rated but quite spicy NSFW illustration of Blaze the ghost lover getting some action at a haunted house. It’s an inked, grayscale-flatted illustration for the $10.01 and higher tiers, but if we hit 225 patrons this month, I’ll color it and release it to all tiers next month. 2. On the softer side of things, I shared a video of my ITS flatting process on Tumblr!

4. And finally, we have a new voting incentive on Top Webcomics! It’s a fresh new preview sketch of another chapter 2 scene (Blaze’s morning yoga). Voting helps ITS rise higher up the list, which gets it discovered by more readers. You can vote for as many comics as you want, once per day per comic.
Demon of the Underground
Demon of the Underground is my longest-running webcomic. It’s about Pogo, a half-demon with telekinetic powers who falls into a treacherous underground world beneath Chicago. The first 300+ pages can be read for free at demonoftheunderground.com. Current pages are being released on Patreon, with tentative plans for new free pages in the future.

Appearances
I was a guest on the Screen Tones Podcast, which is an awesome creator-focused podcast about webcomics! We talked about Patreon, how to use it, our strategies, and our history with it. It was a really fun conversation that I hope helps cartoonists who are considering giving Patreon a try!
I also had an awesome time at my Citrus Con panel on August 8! We’re expecting a recording of the panel to be released in the future. If it comes my way, I’ll pass it along!
