Transcript: Chapter 2, Episode 19
Shown in profile, Judd bows his head and grits his teeth while continuing to pray. Behind him, the demon taunts, “He can’t hear you.” Its black hand reaches under Judd’s chasuble, lifting it to reveal his belted alb and stole.
The demon hooks a finger under the center of Judd’s cincture.
As the demon’s claw shreds through the fibers of the cincture, then leans close into Judd’s grimacing face, it says, “Now tell me more… about that dirty…”
The demon licks Judd’s neck. Its sentence continues with the word, “little.”
The next words say, “red-haired.”
A burst of light and a dramatic squelch sound effect interrupt the demon’s sentence. Judd’s face is shown, his expression intense and forceful. His eyes grow bright yellowish white.
Black liquid drips on the wood floor.
Judd’s glowing eyes narrow as blood drips down his temple.
The demon groans as it’s shown impaled on a bright, glowing spike.
As the view pans down, a myriad glowing spikes are shown emerging from around Judd, who’s braced on his hands and knees with an expression of exertion on his face.
Judd grimaces, blood streaming down the sides of his face. He yells, “Brothers, NOW!”
The cathedral entrance is shown in shades of black and red. The silhouettes of three people appear in the doorway. On the left is a tall figure in long robes with short, spiky hair. In the middle is a slim figure with short, neat hair, wearing pants and a stole. On the right is a broad, husky figure in a long robe.
A logo appears: Into the Smoke. Intothesmokecomic.com
An image shows nine ghost hands converging to pet Otto, a content fat black cat. Each hand has several names written on it. Text reads: Special Thanks to my Patrons. Pledge on Patreon at patreon.com/bob_artist. The words “Pledge on Patreon” are crossed out and replaced with the words, “Pet Otto.” An additional URL reads intothesmokecomic.com.
Bro’s gonna need a new cincture.
Most of you have probably seen my previous posts here or in the Monthly Roundup, laying out my work situation for the next two years and why I needed a funding boost to be able to keep my webcomics running. Well, I have an awesome update for you!
Total Goal: Patreon earnings +$750 (NOT an all-or-nothing goal)
Midpoint goal to keep the comics running, with potential delays/slower/smaller updates: $375
Current Status: +$390
We’re currently above the midpoint! Y’all are TRULY AWESOME!!
The one caveat is that some patrons who are only temporarily pledging high amounts, so we’ll likely drop back below the midpoint. So it’d be great to be a little more comfortably above the midpoint. But in the meantime, thanks to several generous donations on Ko-fi, a bit on Tapas, and patrons gifting memberships to friends, I again have more of a buffer and can stretch things out through the end of the year and the next full scene, even if we do drop a bit. (That means we’re guaranteed to see Blaze again!)
The biggest thing to me is to simply be able to keep making these comics. So the midpoint goal really is key! Big thanks to everyone who contributed toward it, on Patreon or Ko-fi or elsewhere!

With all the Patreon action, I keep forgetting to mention the Top Webcomics vote. I haven’t had a chance to update the incentive, but votes are appreciated and they help new readers find the comic! You can vote here.
