Announcements

Last month, I let everyone know what was going on with my webcomics, the current change in my schedule, and why I needed higher funding to be able to continue making them. If you missed all the details, you can catch up on them here. But I just wanted to give you an update!

  • Full funding goal (keeps current schedule): +$750/month
  • Amount to continue making comics with some delays/reduced scheduling: +$375/month (midpoint)
  • Amount as of 10/29: +$360/month

The number fluctuates a lot the first ~5 days of the month due to many older patrons having the 1st as their renewal date. So I’ll update again at the next ITS episode on November 12.

But I do want to point out HOW EXTREMELY CLOSE we are to that midpoint! At that level, I can fill in the remainder through revenue streams that don’t take me completely away from webcomics.

I also want to thank everyone for rallying and bringing in this level of funding so quickly. I’ve been a full-time professional artist for 14 years now, some of them great and some rough. Patreon has been an important part of my job for a while now, and it’s brought stability through times where my best clients paid me late, got laid off, or went out of business. My webcomics are a job and not a hobby, but they’re also a job I love dearly and would be devastated to give up. So I’m endlessly grateful to all of you for seeing value in what I do, and for giving me the means to keep doing it.

Pledge on Patreon and help us meet our goal!

And now, the usual monthly roundup!

Banner with the text Into the Smoke. The image shows Blaze using a lighter to summon Alastor, a dark, smoky ghost, who holds the medium while inhaling his breath.

Into the Smoke

Into the Smoke is my new free vertical-scroll webcomic. It updates every other Wednesday. “When gay medium Blaze binds himself to an evil spirit, he hopes solving the ghost’s murder will help bring him peace. But Alastor the Angel Killer has other plans…”

New Episodes This Month:

Extras:

1. For October’s Secret Gallery post, I did an illustration of Judd with some subtle animation effects inspired by early-era full-color movies. (Patreon)

2. For November’s Bonus Tier post, I continued the pencil drawing series I started last month with Blaze. This month, I did a pencil drawing plus digital color version of Judd! Listen, it’s Judd’s time to shine this month! He’s the star of the current ITS scene AND our bonuses. He doesn’t get the spotlight all that often, so let’s enjoy it! (Patreon)

3. It’s a new month on Top Webcomics! Still the same voting incentive (omg it’s Judd), but I hope to refresh it next month, time permitting. Either way, votes are a huge help and are much appreciated!

Banner for Demon of the Underground: Webcomic. The four main characters of the comic are shown in the midst of battle: Jordana, Merritt, Samsid, and Pogo.

Demon of the Underground

Demon of the Underground is my longest-running webcomic. It’s about Pogo, a half-demon with telekinetic powers who falls into a treacherous underground world beneath Chicago. The first 300+ pages can be read for free at demonoftheunderground.com. Current pages are being released on Patreon, with plans for new free pages in the future.

Demon of the Underground is updating with free public pages on Tapas! We’re up to chapter 4, page 81!

Every episode I’ve been posting to Tapas has been newly converted to vertical scroll, which is why I haven’t had time for too much additional DOTU work. But we’re getting very close to something big! I’ve converted and queued the last of the pages that are currently up for free at the main website. That means that, starting in January, we’ll get brand-new public pages through the end of chapter 4!

Minicomics

Hand-drawn text reads, "Crimetober," with birds perched on the letters. Three black and white illustrations are shown, along with a text label denoting a crime. Murder: five crows gather around a dead body with an ax in its back. Kidnapping: A broody chicken sits on three chicks and one kitten. Petty theft: A gull flies down on someone to steal their fries.

CRIMETOBER

Throughout October, I did my own special version of inktober: CRIMETOBER. Because birds are criminals. You can see the full set of 31 here! (Oh, they’re also on Bluesky now!)

Prints Coming Soon

This one blew up, lol. I’ve had a lot of print requests, and I expect to get them up in my INPRNT shop next week! To get notified by email ASAP, follow my main Patreon or my Planet Honk Patreon for free! Or, if you can wait, stick around for our next Monthly Roundup!

Crimetober Bird Lore

I’m also very proud to say that every single bird crime is rooted in truth about the species depicted. If you want all the bird facts, check out this post on my Planet Honk Patreon! It’s early access for patrons, then goes free for everyone TODAY. So if you can’t read it for free yet, give it a couple hours and check again. (You can also pledge to support my silly art!)

And that’s everything from this past month! See ya next time!
