Monthly Roundup – May 5, 2026

Zines? Zines!!

In this newsletter, you’ll find out about everything I released over the past 30-31 days.

Anything not labeled “Patreon” or “paid” is free and publicly available.

April 5 to May 6, 2026

April was a month of pure chaos, but somehow I managed to whip up some fun stuff that I hope you’ll enjoy!

That’s right, there are zines

As part of Nib & Ink Fest 2026, the Screen Tones Podcast cast (which I’m a part of) put out a new zine where we each outline our process for making webcomics. It’s 42 pages, and I have 7 pages in which I honk about making webcomics. NIF 2026 runs until the end of May, so if you want to buy the zine digitally, be sure to do it soon! It’ll be over by the next Monthly Roundup.

Proceeds for the zine go toward the podcast’s production expenses, so we can continue to share free webcomic-making advice and resources with everyone!

A preview of 4 zines: two vertical Into the Smoke sampler zines, one vertical Bob's Minicomics zine, and one square Birds are Criminals zine.

I also spent a big chunk of April preparing four zines that will be debuting at TCAF at the Screen Tones Podcast table! Toronto Comic Arts Festival runs June 6 and 7, so if you’ll be there, be sure to stop by the table and check out our stuff, including the print version of our How I Create My Webcomic zine! I won’t be there in person, but you can also pick up my four printed zines: Into the Smoke Sampler 1, Into the Smoke Sampler 2, Bob’s Minicomics, and Birds are Criminals.

Not planning to be there? If I end up with any stock sent back to me, my patrons get first dibs. So if you want a chance to grab a zine, and help me make more comics at the same time, pledge to my Patreon!

Banner with the text Into the Smoke. The image shows Blaze using a lighter to summon Alastor, a dark, smoky ghost, who holds the medium while inhaling his breath.

Into the Smoke

Into the Smoke is my new free vertical-scroll webcomic. It updates every other Wednesday. “When gay medium Blaze binds himself to an evil spirit, he hopes solving the ghost’s murder will help bring him peace. But Alastor the Angel Killer has other plans…”

New Episodes This Month:

While I’m working on my graphic novel, I’m trying to maintain the equivalent of 1 ITS page per week. Most episodes are an average of 4-ish pages, so that means there might be a longer wait between some episodes, instead of our previous consistent “every other week” schedule.

If you got this Monthly Roundup by email, either through the ITS Newsletter or via Patreon, you’re already set to get ITS episode alerts by email too! If not, you can sign up for ITS email updates or follow my Patreon for free, and then you’ll always know when the next episode posts.

Extras:

1. I shared some previously patrons-only sketches on Tumblr! You can see them here:

2. For April’s Secret Gallery post, I released the next first-draft installment of the “Blaze cult story” prose prequel I’ve been working on. This was the last scene I planned to share of this story in the near future! (Patreon)

3. For April’s Bonus Tier post, I made a tiny bit more progress on Notorious Ghost, my ITS visual novel in progress. Here you can see 32 facial expressions on Blaze’s sprite! (Patreon)

4. Want to see a more detailed rundown of my TCAF zines, including interior previews and shots of the books as they were being put together? Check out this post for all patrons! (Patreon)

5. It’s a new month on Top Webcomics! No new incentive this month, but voting helps more readers discover Into the Smoke, and I appreciate all of you for the support!

Banner for Demon of the Underground: Webcomic. The four main characters of the comic are shown in the midst of battle: Jordana, Merritt, Samsid, and Pogo.

Demon of the Underground

Demon of the Underground is my longest-running webcomic. It’s about Pogo, a half-demon with telekinetic powers who falls into a treacherous underground world beneath Chicago. The first 300+ pages can be read for free at demonoftheunderground.com. Current pages are being released on Patreon, with plans for new free pages in the future.

FREE PUBLIC DEMON OF THE UNDERGROUND PAGES ARE BACK! They will continue at least to the end of chapter 4, minus the most nsfw pages. You can find them in their original single-page format at demonoftheunderground.com, or converted to vertical scroll format on Tapas. They will release at roughly the same rate, though the releases at the main site may come in batches.

Newly Released Free Pages This Month:

Demon of the Underground is also updating on Tapas! We’re up to chapter 4, page 102!

And that’s everything from this past month! See ya next time!
